“Ode to Otha” Block Party coming Saturday, June 1

otha_typetreatment3Don’t miss this year’s “Ode to Otha,” the street party that has become a Belmont-Hillsboro neighborhood tradition!

To celebrate the birthday of Mississippi Fife and Drum music legend, Otha Turner, (and his own birthday) and to honor the musical legacy of Mr. Turner, long-time neighbor Bill Ramsey will host his annual block party, Ode to Otha, Saturday, June 1 from 2 pm to 9 p.m. at 1711 Sweetbriar Ave. The family-friendly event includes food, beer, margaritas, clowns, piñatas and music from Sharde Thomas (Otha’s granddaughter) and the Rising Star Fife and Drum Band, Delicious, Kenny Brown, the Reprimands, Blue Mother Tupelo, Chip Green, Bashful Mountain Broadcasters and more.

The $30 admission benefits Second Harvest Food Bank. Children under 14 are free.
